چکیده

A lexical function represents a type of relation that exists between lexical units (words or expressions) in any language. For example, the antonymy is a type of relat ion that is represented by the lexical function Anti: Anti(big) = small. Those relations include both paradigmatic relations, i.e. vertical relations, such as synonymy, antonymy and meronymy and syntagmatic relat ions, i.e. horizontal relations, such as objective qualification (legitimate demand), subjective qualificat ion (fruitful analysis), positive evaluation (good review) and support verbs (pay a visit, subject to an interrogation). In this paper, we present the Lexical Functions Ontology Model (lexfom) to represent lexical functions and the relation among lexical units . Lexfom is divided in four modules: lexical function representation (lfrep), lexical function family (lffam), lexical function semantic perspective (lfsem) and lexical function relations (lfrel). Moreover, we show how it combines to Lexical Model for Ontologies (lemon), for the transformation of lexical networks into the semantic web formats. So far, we have implemented 100 simple and 500 complex lexical functions, and encoded about 8,000 syntagmatic and 46,000 paradigmat ic relations, for the French language.

Ontologizing Lexicon Access Functions based on an LMF-based Lexicon Taxonomy

This paper discusses ontologization of lexicon access functions in the context of a service-oriented language infrastructure, such as the Language Grid. In such a language infrastructure, an access function to a lexical resource, embodied as an atomic Web service, plays a crucially important role in composing a composite Web service tailored to a user’s specific requirement. To facilitate the c...

Lexical Ontology Model Based on SBVR Representations

The paper presents a model of lexical ontology, based on SBVR representations, which is related to domain ontology used for semantic search in Lithuanian Internet corpus. The advantage of using SBVR based lexical ontology is the support of various relations among different types of meanings and representations, considering phrases instead of single words, and possibility of transformations to (...

E-HowNet and Automatic Construction of a Lexical Ontology

In this paper, we propose a lexical senses representation system called E-HowNet, in which the lexical senses are defined by basic concepts. As a result, the meanings of expressions are more specific than those derived by using primitives. We also design an ontology to express the taxonomic relations between concepts and the attributes of concepts. To establish the taxonomic relations between w...

A Method for Building Ontology Property Explanations

The lemon model has been developed to link lexical knowledge to ontology classes and properties. However, it is only possible to describe an ontology property with lexical senses. In our previous work, we found that there are relations between ontology properties and natural language predicates. We suggest a model for explaining ontology properties with not only lexical senses such as verb sens...

Non-Lexical Approaches to Identifying Associative Relations in the Gene Ontology

The Gene Ontology (GO) is a controlled vocabulary widely used for the annotation of gene products. GO is organized in three hierarchies for molecular functions, cellular components, and biological processes but no relations are provided among terms across hierarchies. The objective of this study is to investigate three non-lexical approaches to identifying such associative relations in GO and c...
